Introducing the Community Stories Project

Every neighbourhood has a story.

Not just the story of when homes were built or streets were named, but the real story — the one made up of people, memories, traditions, milestones, and everyday moments that shape what it feels like to live here.

That’s why we’re excited to launch the Community Stories Project.

This project is all about preserving and celebrating the memories, photos, and experiences that make our neighbourhood special. From longtime residents who remember the early days of the community, to young families creating new traditions today, every story helps paint a picture of who we are and how our community has grown over time.

Sometimes the most meaningful history is found in the small moments:

  • driveway conversations with neighbours
  • kids riding bikes until the streetlights came on
  • community picnics and local events
  • backyard gatherings
  • snowy winters, summer block parties, and familiar faces
  • the stories behind homes, families, and friendships

These are the memories that often never make it into official records, but they are the heart of a neighbourhood.

Through the Community Stories Project, we hope to create a living archive that future generations can look back on and enjoy. We’ll be collecting photographs, written memories, family stories, neighbourhood traditions, event photos, and more. Whether your story is from 40 years ago or last summer, it matters.

You do not need to be a writer or historian to participate. A short memory, a photo with a caption, or even a simple story about your favourite part of the neighbourhood can become part of the project.

Most importantly, this project is about connection. It is a chance to learn from each other, celebrate the people who make this community what it is, and preserve the spirit of the neighbourhood for years to come.

We’d love for you to be part of it.

If you have a story, memory, or photo to share, you can submit it through our Google Form or email us anytime at chapelhillnorth.ca@gmail.com. We can’t wait to hear your stories and continue building this community archive together.
