Kind Neighbour Award: May 2026
Tracey Rafael

One of the best things about our neighbourhood is the people who quietly make it feel warmer, friendlier, and more connected. This month, we’re excited to recognize one of those people by giving our Kind Neighbour Award to Tracey.

If you’ve spent any time gardening, chatting with neighbours, or walking around the community in the warmer months, there’s a good chance you’ve experienced Tracey’s generosity firsthand. Over the years, she has shared hundreds of plants, seedlings, cuttings, and gardening tips with neighbours across the area. What starts as a simple plant giveaway often turns into a conversation, a new friendship, or a connection between neighbours who may not have met otherwise.

Tracey has a genuine passion for gardening, but what makes her so special is how eager she is to share that passion with others. Whether someone is an experienced gardener or planting something for the very first time, she always takes the time to answer questions, offer advice, and encourage people to give it a try. Her kindness and enthusiasm make people feel welcome, supported, and connected.

The impact of that kind of generosity reaches far beyond gardens. It helps create the feeling of community that makes this neighbourhood such a special place to live. Small acts like sharing plants, stopping to chat, or helping someone learn something new build the relationships that turn neighbours into friends.

Thanks to Tracey, little pieces of her generosity are growing all throughout the neighbourhood — in flower beds, vegetable gardens, front yards, and community spaces. More importantly, her kindness continues to grow a stronger sense of community for all of us.

Thank you, Tracey, for everything you do to make our neighbourhood greener, friendlier, and more connected. We’re lucky to have you as part of our community.
